Full Hot Press Line for Mustard Oil
For the commercial mill. Higher yield. Stronger pungency. The full process extracts every drop while keeping that sharp mustard taste buyers expect.
Pre-Press
HN-CG60. 7.5KW. 300โ350 kg/h. Breaks seed structure, first oil release.
Roast
27KW thermal oil roaster. Develops pungency and deep yellow color.
Steam
60 Type steamer. Softens the pre-pressed cake for final extraction.
Final Press
HN325-HN426 hydraulic press. 63-70 Mpa. Complete extraction. Filter and sell.
Kachi Ghani โ Traditional Cold Press
"Kachi ghani" means "cold press" โ the traditional Indian method. Raw mustard seeds, room temperature. The oil keeps its natural sharpness, antioxidants, and the dark golden-yellow color that Indian households trust. No heat, no chemicals. Just pressure.
- 33-38% oil yield โ lower than hot press, but higher market price
- Natural pungency and sharp taste โ what Indian consumers look for
- Rich in glucosinolates and omega-3 โ health-conscious buyers pay more
- Same machine. Skip the roasting and steaming steps
Frequently Asked Questions About Mustard Oil Pressing
What is kachi ghani oil and why does it cost more?
Kachi ghani is the traditional Indian cold-press method โ raw mustard seeds pressed at room temperature without heat or chemicals. It preserves the natural sharp pungency, glucosinolates, and omega-3 fatty acids that health-conscious buyers look for. Kachi ghani oil typically sells for 20-30% more than refined mustard oil in retail. Yield is lower (33-38% vs 38-45% with hot press), but the price premium makes up the difference. You can produce both on the same machine โ just skip roasting and steaming for kachi ghani batches.
Which HN model works best for mustard seed?
HN355 or HN426 are our most popular choices for mustard. The 30-42 Mpa cake pressure on these models is enough to crack open mustard seed cell walls and extract thoroughly. If your daily target is 100-150 kg of seeds, HN355 handles that comfortably. If you also plan to press harder seeds like flaxseed or rapeseed, go straight to HN426 โ the extra 140 tons of force gives you room to grow.
Do I need a roaster and steamer for mustard oil?
For kachi ghani (cold press), no โ raw seeds go directly into the hydraulic press. But if you're making hot-pressed mustard oil, which accounts for roughly 70% of the Indian commercial market, we recommend pairing the press with a 27KW thermal oil roaster (180-200ยฐC for 15-20 minutes) plus a steamer to soften the pre-pressed cake. Full production line: crusher/pre-press โ roaster โ steamer โ hydraulic press โ filter press.
What is the typical oil yield from mustard seed?
Mustard seed contains about 38-42% oil by weight. Actual yield depends on variety and process: kachi ghani cold press gives roughly 33-38% because some oil stays trapped in unheated cells; hot press reaches 38-45%. Residual oil in the cake typically runs 6-8% with a well-calibrated hydraulic press. India's BIS standard sets specific limits for acid value and peroxide value in packaged mustard oil.
How long is shipping to India?
From our Shandong factory to Mumbai (Nhava Sheva) or Navasheva port, sea freight takes approximately 18-25 days depending on vessel schedule. We ship regularly to Gujarat and Rajasthan โ two of India's largest mustard-growing states. Full equipment can be palletized or loaded loose based on your receiving facility's handling capacity.
