Straight talk from the factory floor: a hydraulic press cannot do every coconut job. It is excellent at pressing fresh coconut meat into coconut milk — the first step of wet-process virgin coconut oil (VCO). It is not the right tool for extracting coconut oil from dried copra.

Grate the fresh meat, press cold, and out comes rich coconut milk. The milk is a sellable product on its own, and it is the first step of wet-process VCO: ferment or centrifuge the milk to recover virgin coconut oil. That wet-process line is exactly what our Coconut Milk Press (VCO) is built for.
Recommended❌ No — dried copra → coconut oil
Coconut oil melts at 24–26 °C. At room temperature it solidifies into a white, semi-solid paste — steaming or roasting the copra before pressing does not change that. Pressing copra in a hydraulic press gives you oil you then have to melt. Skip it.
Not RecommendedThe honest bottom line: we would rather lose a sale than sell you the wrong machine. If your business is coconut oil from copra, you need a screw press line. If your business is coconut milk or wet-process VCO, our hydraulic press is one of the best tools for the job.

Why stainless steel for coconut?
Coconut is acidic. Regular carbon steel rusts and contaminates the oil within weeks. Our 304 food-grade stainless steel barrel, oil tray, and outer body eliminate this problem entirely. The machine stays clean, your oil stays pure.
Can a hydraulic press make coconut oil?
Yes for fresh coconut meat — a hydraulic press turns grated fresh meat into coconut milk, the first step of wet-process VCO. The milk itself is also a sellable product. For dried copra, no: use a screw press line instead.
Can I press dried copra in a hydraulic press?
We do not recommend it. Coconut oil melts at 24–26 °C and solidifies into a white, semi-solid paste at room temperature. Steaming or drying the copra first does not avoid this — it is a natural property of all coconut oil. Screw presses are the mainstream equipment for coconut oil production.

VCO quality standards — what do APCC and export buyers check?
Export buyers and the Asian Pacific Coconut Coalition (APCC) look at several key markers: free fatty acid content should be 0.5% or lower for premium VCO (some buyers want under 0.3%), peroxide value below 5 meq/kg indicates freshness, moisture should stay under 0.1%, and the oil must be clear with no visible sediment. For organic or Kosher certification, you will need additional documentation on sourcing and processing chain of custody.
